Sodalite is a rich, royal-blue mineral famed for its use in ornamental jewelry and decorative stonework. Named for its sodium content, it typically forms in silica-poor, sodium-rich igneous rocks. Sodalite is frequently used as a polished gemstone and is often mistaken for lapis lazuli. Found in the Ilímaussaq complex in Greenland, the Kola Peninsula in Russia, and the Kunene region of Namibia
