Sodalite comes from various locations worldwide, with major sources in Brazil (Bahia), Canada (Ontario), and Greenland, where it forms in silica-poor igneous rocks like nepheline syenites. Significant deposits are also found in Namibia, Russia (Kola Peninsula), Afghanistan, and even the USA (Maine, Arkansas). It's known for its deep blue color, often with white calcite streaks, and is used as a gemstone and ornamental stone.
