Gold sheen obsidian is a natural volcanic glass primarily sourced from Mexico (specifically Jalisco) and some parts of the US. It forms when felsic lava cools rapidly, trapping gas bubbles and mineral impurities that create its characteristic shimmering, golden, or metallic sheen. Most high-quality material is mined in Mexico.
