Sandstone, a sedimentary rock, is formed when grains of sand are compacted and cemented together over thousands or millions of years. The sand grains often are composed of the minerals quartz or feldspar that were worn off other rocks and ground down into pebbles.
Amber has been used as jewelry since the Stone Age, from 13,000 years ago. Amber ornaments have been found in Mycenaean tombs and elsewhere across Europe.
Aventurine is a member of the quartz family and is made up of quartz and feldspar, along with mineral inclusions like hematite or mica that give it its unique appearance. It's often green, but can also be red, blue, or yellow.
