Porcelain jasper originates from Mexico, specifically in the mountains near Hermosillo in Sonora. It is a type of brecciated jasper, meaning it was formed from fragments of stone that have been fused together over time. While primarily associated with Mexico, similar materials, sometimes called Mayan porcelain jasper, can also be found in parts of Guatemala.
