Pink thulite, a manganese-rich variety of the mineral zoisite, was first discovered in Norway in 1820 and named after the mythical land of Thule (Scandinavia). While Norway remains the primary and most significant source, known for deposits in Telemark and near Leksvik, thulite is also found in other locations like Austria, North Carolina (USA), Australia, and Namibia.
