Mookaite is a vibrant, silica-rich, fossiliferous sedimentary stone (silicified radiolarite) found exclusively along Mooka Creek on Mooka Station, near the Kennedy Range in Western Australia. It formed roughly 120 million years ago during the Early Cretaceous period from the skeletal remains of microscopic marine organisms that accumulated in an ancient, shallow inland sea.
