Kambaba Jasper, also known as Crocodile Jasper, is primarily found in Madagascar, specifically in the west-central Bongolava region, near the Kambaba River. While some sources also mention South Africa as a location, this is not definitively confirmed. The stone is a type of rhyolite, a volcanic rock, and not a fossilized stromatolite as some believe.
