Imperial Jasper originates from a specific, large deposit in the rugged canyon region of central Mexico, near the border of Zacatecas and Jalisco states, about 50 miles northwest of Guadalajara, north of the town San Cristobal. It's a prized, fine jasper known for its distinct colors (pinks, greens, browns) and patterns, forming in veins and nodules in steep, vegetation-covered slopes, with Royal Imperial Jasper being a nodular type known for its "egg" patterns.
