Golden rutilated quartz was first discovered in the Serra da Mangabeira mountain range in Brazil in the 1940s. Miners were originally looking for clear quartz for optical uses. Rutilated quartz is found in various parts of the world, including: Australia, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Norway, Pakistan, Spain, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, India.
