Dendritic opal originates from silica-rich water that seeps through volcanic rocks, leaving behind solidified silica with inclusions of trace metals like manganese or iron that form the tree-like "dendritic" patterns. Its history began with the first official discovery of common opals in Australia in the 19th century, though it is now found globally. Prominent locations include Australia, the United States (especially Nevada and Oregon), Mexico, Brazil, and Madagascar.
