Chrysoprase is a rare variety of chalcedony. The Frankenstein deposit in Upper Silesia was once the foremost source of chrysoprase, but the mine has been exhausted since the 14th century. Today, most chrysoprase is found in Australia, Tanzania, Brazil and Poland.
