Banded green opal, a variety showing green hues and banding, originates globally but is notably found in Australia, Peru, the USA (especially Nevada), Brazil, and Madagascar, with some specific types like Prase opal (nickel-colored) coming from Tanzania. Its formation involves silica-rich water depositing silica spheres in underground voids, with iron impurities causing the green color and the layering creating bands.
