Aragonite is a polymorph of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), meaning it has the same chemical formula as calcite, but a different crystal structure. It is found in a variety of geological settings, including caves, sediments, and the shells of marine organisms. Aragonite is known for its greater hardness.
