Aquamarine originates from the Latin words for "water" (aqua) and "sea" (marina) It is a variety of the mineral beryl, found in granite pegmatites and metamorphic rocks under intense heat and pressure. Major mining locations include Brazil (the primary source), Madagascar, Nigeria, Mozambique, Zambia, and Pakistan.
