Amber is fossilized tree resin, primarily originating from ancient coniferous forests dating between 25 and 50 million years ago, though some specimens are over 300 million years old. It formed when resin from these trees hardened, polymerized, and became buried in anaerobic conditions, often in seabed or lake sediments. The largest, most renowned deposits are found in the Baltic region.
